Caesar's Army W/ Jules Sobian
In the first episode for 2025, I am talking to the legendary Jules Sobion, the Founder, CEO & Commander-In-Chief of Caesar’s Army Ltd. The Event, Festival Management and Production Company.
Jules is a Key Architect in revolutionizing the Trinidad & Tobago, Caribbean and International entertainment landscape; producing, packaging and promoting Caribbean Arts and Culture. His Industry leadership comprises a myriad of roles across various sectors.
In this in-depth conversation Jules shares about his academic pursuits, the influence his family had on shaping and guiding him along his career path and the intentional transition into the world of business, entrepreneurship and events.
He talks about how he was determined to show his parents the "possibility of his passion" and indicates that if you believe in your ventures you can "convince people who don't see it", they can then convert from being "detractors to supporters".
We chat about his venture into business and the entertainment space while studying in Jamaica, which is where he developed his entrepreneurial skills. He then moved to New York to continue his studies, and this is where he started doing events, and later created Julius Caesar.
After returning home, he continued his entrepreneurial pursuits and formed the iconic Caesar's Army; the movement, community and army, which became a staple in the Trinidad & Tobago Carnival landscape.
Jules spoke about building a collective, and the fact that he could not do this on his own. The rise of Caesar's Army was fast and it became a formidable force. When Jules moved, his Army moved with him; he broke barriers, changed the game and introduced new events during Carnival and outside the season. Then his brands were exported and the movement continued across the Caribbean, US, UK and beyond.
A true visionary, Jules gives advice on the mindset, posture and passion one must have when pioneering new business ventures and for life. He says "people may not always believe in what you are doing, but you have to believe in it, because it can take you to the world". He encourages us to use what we have, do what we do best, then package it to transform the world.
We talk about the future, where he speaks of his continuous evolution and global mindset. He says the journey continues and he is excited about the possibility of the future, that he is far from finished. Though his world keeps evolving, he is centered by family and by God and leans on him for guidance.
Jules says if we are driven by purpose, it allows us to see life in a broader sense, beyond the act of doing that one thing. "Sometimes, you may not know where you are going, but if you are driven by passion it will lead you to your purpose"
Jules also speaks about being gentle with yourself and to slow down, while in pursuit of your passion. The reality is if you are no longer here or ill how can you accomplish your purpose. So he admonishes that we need to be gentle and find happiness in the midst of the pursuit.
We talk about what's coming for the 2025 Carnival season, and the Commander in Chief's next mission. He says it will be a year of transformation as he continues to evolve, explore and do new things. Jules looks forward to continuing to conquer new territories and to blaze a trail that inspires the next generation of visionaries and game-changers.
You cannot miss this most profound and stirring conversation, it will change your life and can inspire you for in pursuits for 2025 and beyond.
